One of my favorite things about Taylor Rooks (besides the obvious talent for what she does) was the sheer joy and enthusiasm she brings to it. She also has the courage in the media to speak out on things that matter. And that is something I always appreciate. S2, Ep. 11: Cian Fahey, Pre-Snap Reads, ESPN

One of my favorite things to do as a kid was study the way players in the NFL and college played the Quarterback position. I found the nuances of the position not only to be one of the most challenging in all of sports, but, when done correctly, one of the most amazing feats. Cian Fahey has been doing NFL analysis for some time and has developed metrics to measure the Quarterback position. His common-sense approach to NFL analysis made me a fan of him instantly, and it’s easy to see why we will soon hear him on ESPN this fall delivering that analysis to an even greater audience.  Continue reading “S2, Ep. 11: Cian Fahey, Pre-Snap Reads, ESPN”

NFL Playoffs 2016: It’s Time For Matt Ryan, Alex Smith To Change Their Playoff Narrative

smith
Alex Smith has guided the Chiefs to three playoff appearances in four seasons.

I’m currently reading the book “Rebel Yell”, written by S. C. Gwynne, about the life of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson. Early in the book it describes a time in Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia) in which Jackson established himself as a worthy war general and tactician to be reckoned with. He was unassuming, disciplined, and boring by personality, but was as gifted as any in field tactics. There have been a lot of names thrown out regarding this seasons NFL MVP award. Ezekiel “Zeke” Elliott. David Johnson. Tom Brady. All of them have been discussed and all of that discussion had merit.

Emphasis on ‘had’.  Continue reading “The NFL MVP Race Is Between Matt Ryan And Aaron Rodgers, So Here’s Who Wins It”

Ep. 20: Michael Felder, College Football Video Analyst, Bleacher Report

BoS-Logo-iTunes

Michael Felder is proof that if you want to do something bad enough, all it takes is good, old-fashioned hard work. After his playing days as a walk-on for the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill), “Mike” knew the regular 9-to-5 wasn’t for him. His passion for the game of football, particularly at the college level, is evident immediately when you talk to him. Hence why, after years of hard work, he’s now a college football video analyst for Bleacher Report. Continue reading “Ep. 20: Michael Felder, College Football Video Analyst, Bleacher Report”
