As far as comebacks go, this one is as fun to see as any in recent memory. I’m talking about that of the Los Angeles Angels Kendrys Morales.
The Angels beat the Oakland Athletics 6-0 yesterday behind a strong performance by Jered Weaver. Weaver threw 6-2/3 innings of shutout baseball adding six strikeouts and improving to 2-0 on the season (2.18 ERA).
The big news however was Morales who went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. A far cry form the guy who, last we saw, was being carried off the field after celebrating a home run two years ago. Still only 28, at the time he was a budding star, coming off a 2010 season in which he hit 34 home runs and drove in 108, all while batting .306. He even shared a moment with Felix Hernandez in one of my favorite video game commercials of all-time.
Here’s hoping sustained health and a good year from Morales. Known as a good guy in the game, he certainly is fun to watch.
