Baseball’s toughest division got a whole lot more exciting as the top two teams (Nationals and Braves) made additions. While the Nationals have the better overall ball team, the Braves could be right there with them again in October. The Phillies are still in the mix, but their best shot will be for a Wild Card spot. They weren’t going to let it happen again.
The Atlanta Braves, losers of eight-consecutive games to the rival Phillies seemed to reach a tipping point last night. Down six and staring at the possibility of losing their ninth straight by way of shutout it seemed improbable that the Braves would be able to overcome such a deficit. Especially considering their chances were even worse with Roy Halladay on the mound and doing what he normally does (i.e., dominate). Late edition of my weekly power rankings this weekend after a packed weekend. The Rangers, Nationals, Braves and Dodgers continue their recent stretches of great baseball, the Boston Red Sox have shown new life, and one team takes a nosedive. On to it!
It’s April 27th and the Florida-Joe-Robbie-Stadium-Miami Marlins sit at an underwhelming 7-11. For those of you keeping track of the National League East standings that would be the record of a last place team.

Week three power rankings see the Rangers on top for the second consecutive week. Braves and Nationals are rising fast after solid weeks.
Last week’s power rankings saw some interesting names in places we didn’t expect.But have no fear baseball “experts” (myself included), as the season is kicking into high gear some of the ball clubs we thought would heat up (I see you Braves, Yankees and Diamondbacks) are moving along. Some, on the other hand, are going in the direction we envisioned even before opening day (sorry Orioles, Mariners and Astros). Surprises still remain, however. With that we get right to it!
