Injuries are starting to mount for quite a few fantasy stars (and emerging options as well).
Just when Tevin Coleman started rolling a rib injury may force him to miss multiple weeks. Drew Brees and Tony Romo both went down with injuries that will cause them to miss multiple weeks. Eddie Lacy’s ankle is a concern and has his week 3 status in doubt as well. If you’re able to navigate your way through these major losses you should be okay. Here are some targets that will help you do so.
Brandon Weeden, QB, Dallas Cowboys
Cowboys fans and fantasy owners couldn’t have been expecting to see Weeden’s name this year.
Yet here it is week 3 and with Romo out this is the best option available (for now). Weeden isn’t ideal, and depending how deep your league is there could even be better options. Weeden did impress when he came in for Romo (7-for-7, 73 yards and a touchdown) and the Falcons haven’t exactly proven they can stop the pass yet. Might not be a bad off-the-radar guy to target.
Crockett Gillmore, TE, Baltimore Ravens
See here. Thanks.
James Starks, RB, Green Bay Packers
The 2015 Green Bay Packers are starting to have the look of the 2010 team that won the Super Bowl on offense. That is of course should Lacy be forced to miss time with an ankle injury suffered during the Seattle game. Starks has always been a nice FLEX/RB3 option for teams in a pinch (i.e. when Lacy goes down) so I see no reason why you couldn’t trust him again this week against Kansas City.
David Johnson, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Is it David Johnson time in Arizona, yet? I sure hope so. Especially after what he was able to do with his opportunities last week (42 yards, TD). I know Bruce Arians doesn’t like to put too much on rookie running backs but go ahead and see what the rookie can do against the 49ers this week.
Matt Jones, RB, Washington
Okay everyone calm down! I know he was awesome last week against the Rams and everyone is itching for a reason to finally bury Alfred Morris (why I do not know); but I am cautioning you to just be cool. Add Jones if you can (because he’s awesome), but seriously, just be cool.
Chris Polk, RB, Houston Texans
Did you know Chris Polk had more touches (14) than everyone else in the Texans backfield combined last week? No? Oh…well… Chris Polk had more touches than everybody else in the Texans backfield last week. Arian Foster isn’t back yet soooooo…
