I can’t believe it’s already June 1st.

While this date might seem unimportant to some, it’s very important when it comes to those of us tracking Major League Baseball’s marathon known as the regular season.

Why? Well for a few reasons:  Continue reading “MLB 2015: 5 Observations On The 2015 Major League Baseball Season (Through 6/1/2015)”

NFL Offseason 2015: Tom Brady, Patriots Get #DeflateGate Penalties; Now What?

#DeflateGate has an outcome. Sort of.

Tom Brady has been suspended. The Patriots have been docked two draft picks (including their 2016 first-round pick), and the franchise has been ordered to pay $1 million dollars as a fine. If this punishment sticks, it would be some of the harshest the sport has ever seen. My money, though, is that it won’t; and the NFL will once again have proved us suckers on their quest to dominate 12-months of the sports news landscape. 2015 NFL Draft: The Picks And Classes I Didn’t Like

I’ve highlighted the best of the draft, now it’s time to take a look at the teams I thought didn’t get it right. Some of the usual suspects (Jets, Browns, Oakland) won’t be mentioned this time around because I thought they made some pretty good picks overall.

Who made the worst list? Let’s see… Continue reading “2015 NFL Draft: The Picks And Classes I Didn’t Like”

2015 NFL Draft: The Picks And Classes I Liked

Vic Beasley was taken with the 8th overall pick by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2015 NFL Draft.

2015 NFL Draft is in the books.

The first thing I am going to let you know is I don’t do “Draft Grades.” I’m not a teacher, and this was not a test. With that, what you will find here is my opinion/analysis of what teams I thought did the best addressing their needs and who didn’t.

That’s it. Pretty simple.

Onward then… Continue reading “2015 NFL Draft: The Picks And Classes I Liked”

2015 NFL Draft: Chip Kelly, Others Proving College Style “System” May Change NFL Culture

It might be time to start giving head college football coaches the benefit of the doubt, again.

Why? Well, for starters, Chip Kelly sent the NFL offseason into a frenzy with a flurry of moves that many people couldn’t or didn’t want to understand. Of course these moves happened a year after an offseason in which Chip Kelly had already made moves others couldn’t or didn’t want to understand.

Then came the predictable chorus from naysayers. Continue reading “2015 NFL Draft: Chip Kelly, Others Proving College Style “System” May Change NFL Culture”

NFL Draft 2015: Washington Redskins Pick Up Robert Griffin III’s Option For 2016; What Needs To Happen Now

Robert Griffin III had his fifth-year player option picked up this week. Now they're really on the clock.
Robert Griffin III had his fifth-year player option picked up this week. Now they’re really on the clock.

It’s been three years.

Three years since I wrote an open letter to Mike Shanahan and the Redskins “Powers That Be” not to mortgage their future on Robert Griffin III. Continue reading “NFL Draft 2015: Washington Redskins Pick Up Robert Griffin III’s Option For 2016; What Needs To Happen Now”

Garrett Grayson: Breaking Down The 2015 NFL Draft’s Dark Horse Quarterback

Garrett Grayson was a top-10 Quarterback in passing yards, efficiency, and touchdowns his seniior season at Colorado State. Will that translate to NFL success?
Garrett Grayson was a top-10 Quarterback in passing yards, efficiency, and touchdowns his seniior season at Colorado State. Will that translate to NFL success?

Garrett Grayson comes into the 2015 draft as the forgotten man at Quarterback.

Media coverage of Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota as the top two quarterback prospects in the class and the obsession of whether or not a running back will go in the first round have overshadowed Grayson and his potential to become a quality NFL starting quarterback. Kris Bryant, the #1 Prospect in baseball, has arrived in Chicago and they still have more young, top-flight prospects on the way.

It’s been almost three weeks since the season started and there are quite a few storylines to discuss. I figured I would break this into two parts and give a few first impressions starting with the National League. I also will (finally) dole out division predictions so without further delay let’s get to it.
