S2, Ep. 12: Natalie Weiner, Sports & Culture, Bleacher Report

BoS-Logo-iTunes

Natalie Weiner has been one of the best follows on Twitter for me for quite some time. Her insight is always interesting, and her takes always honest. Her background (Columbia grad, former Editor at Billboard Magazine) makes the sports media world that much richer with fresh takes and ideas. So we’re all better for her writing sports and culture for Bleacher Report. Continue reading “S2, Ep. 12: Natalie Weiner, Sports & Culture, Bleacher Report”

S2, Ep. 9: Mina Kimes, Senior Writer, ESPN/ESPN The Magazine

3The first story I ever read by Mina Kimes was The Art of Letting Go. After that, I discovered she had written a number of pieces for ESPN that were excellent and that I enjoyed. Continue reading “S2, Ep. 9: Mina Kimes, Senior Writer, ESPN/ESPN The Magazine”

NFL Playoffs 2016: It’s Time For Matt Ryan, Alex Smith To Change Their Playoff Narrative

smith
Alex Smith has guided the Chiefs to three playoff appearances in four seasons.

I’m currently reading the book “Rebel Yell”, written by S. C. Gwynne, about the life of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson. Early in the book it describes a time in Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia) in which Jackson established himself as a worthy war general and tactician to be reckoned with. He was unassuming, disciplined, and boring by personality, but was as gifted as any in field tactics. NFL Playoffs 2015: NFC Divisional Round A Proving Ground For Packers, Seahawks

NFC Championship - San Francisco 49ers v Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson (4,024 yards, 34 TD’s, 110.1 Rating) has been nothing short of sensational in 2015; and in his last four meetings against the Panthers (including postseason) he’s posted totals of 1,028 yards, 6 TD’s, 1 INT, and a 109.8 Rating. More importantly? The Seahawks are 3-1 in those games. (Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty Images)

One of the best parts about sports, for me, is the competition when something is on the line. It’s that competition when you’re so close to achieving the ultimate goal that makes everything about practicing and playing worth it. Which is why this week’s NFC Divisional match ups has me so excited for football this weekend. Let’s just jump right in.

Fantasy Football 2015: Week 13 Waiver Wire Targets, And Playoffs?

DougBaldwin
The Seahawks’ Doug Baldwin could be in line for a nice string of matchups the next four weeks. Just in time to carry you into the playoffs and beyond.

Ladies and gentleman, we’ve come to week 13.

If your commissioner knows what they’re doing (and I assume they all do) then this week should wrap up the regular season for your fantasy leagues. Now is the time when not just money, bragging rights, and personal dignity is on the line; but the opportunity to achieve all of those things is on the line.  Continue reading “Fantasy Football 2015: Week 13 Waiver Wire Targets, And Playoffs?”

Fantasy Football 2015: Thursday Night Audibles For Seahawks Vs. 49ers

We haven't seen "Beast Mode" yet in 2015, but I have a feeling we're close. (Photo: The Seattle Times)

I remember a time not very long ago when this game had a lot more Fantasy star power.

One of the more underrated rivalries now, not long ago before the San Francisco player exodus, NFC Championship conversation began and ended in the Pacific Northwest with these two teams. Continue reading “Fantasy Football 2015: Thursday Night Audibles For Seahawks Vs. 49ers”

Fantasy Football 2015: Week 4 Waiver Wire Targets

I've officially decided Colby Fleener, despite being less talented, is the Tight End to own forever in Indianapolis.

On Bye: Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots

Before I get into telling you about guys you probably will curse me for later (I apologize for Chris Polk and Brandon Weeden being bad football players), let’s talk about the power of knowing your situation.  Continue reading “Fantasy Football 2015: Week 4 Waiver Wire Targets”
