AFC Championship Game: Pittsburgh Steelers A Tough Test For New England Patriots

Le’Veon Bell had 149 yards from scrimmage the last time the Steelers and Patriots played. With Ben Roethlisberger playing this time, expect that production to increase on Sunday.

NFL Playoffs 2016: It’s Time For Matt Ryan, Alex Smith To Change Their Playoff Narrative

smith
Alex Smith has guided the Chiefs to three playoff appearances in four seasons.

I’m currently reading the book “Rebel Yell”, written by S. C. Gwynne, about the life of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson. Early in the book it describes a time in Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia) in which Jackson established himself as a worthy war general and tactician to be reckoned with. He was unassuming, disciplined, and boring by personality, but was as gifted as any in field tactics. There is a lot to like about the AFC match ups this weekend and it a lot of the intrigue starts with the coaches. You didn’t read that wrong Continue reading “NFL Playoffs 2015: Defense And Survival The Theme Of AFC Playoffs”

Alex Smith- 3,486 passing yards, 20 touchdowns- will look to lead the Chiefs to a playoff victory in Houston on Saturday. It would also be his first playoff win since 2011. (AP Photo/Ed Zurga)

I took a look back at my preseason picks for the AFC and saw some good (Hello AFC West!), some not so good (Dolphins, Adam? Really?), and some down right ugly choices (Mulligan on Baltimore, please). Continue reading “NFL Playoffs 2015: AFC Wild Card Weekend Primer”

Fantasy Football 2015: Week 4 Waiver Wire Targets

I've officially decided Colby Fleener, despite being less talented, is the Tight End to own forever in Indianapolis.

On Bye: Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots

Before I get into telling you about guys you probably will curse me for later (I apologize for Chris Polk and Brandon Weeden being bad football players), let’s talk about the power of knowing your situation.  Continue reading “Fantasy Football 2015: Week 4 Waiver Wire Targets”

Fantasy Football 2014: Fantasy Football Quarterback Tiers Done My Way

Jekyll and Hyde?: Games 1-8: Stafford's numbers were 2,617 yards, 16 TD's, 6 INT's and a 94.7 rating. Games 9-16: 2,033 yards, 13 TD's, 13 INT's and a 72.1 rating
Jekyll and Hyde?: Stafford’s first-half numbers (2,617 yards, 16 TD’s, 6 INT’s and a 94.7 rating) didn’t resemble anything he did in the second-half ( 2,033 yards, 13 TD’s, 13 INT’s and a 72.1 rating)

The quarterback position is the most important position in fantasy football.

Go ahead and disagree. I say that without a hint of reservation or sarcasm. It doesn’t make sense to place the hopes of a well drafted team in the hands of someone who isn’t going to consistently give you the production you need from, what should be, the steadiest spot on your roster. National Football League 2014: Some Friends And I Ranked All 32 NFL Quarterbacks, The Results Were Interesting

Joe Flacco and Ben Roesthlisberger both own Super Bowl rings, but didn't get much top-10 love in the rankings
Joe Flacco (average rank: 12.5) and Ben Roesthlisberger (average rank: 11.3) both own Super Bowl rings, but didn’t get much top-10 love in the rankings

I thought it would be fun to ask a few of my friends to rank all 32 starting quarterbacks in the NFL as they saw fit. As you can expect, once some of them (myself included) got into the process they realized that ranking them was more difficult than first thought. Thoughts on Seahawks Trade; Why Mike Wallace Signing Is A Bad Move For Miami

Well the Monopoly money flew today, and as expected some NFL free agents cashed in.

I’m going to be completely honest in saying I’m all for people getting paid what they deserve, but to see where some of the names landed never ceases to amaze me. Continue reading “Thoughts on Seahawks Trade; Why Mike Wallace Signing Is A Bad Move For Miami”
