Major League Baseball Notes 4/23/2012: Boston Red Sox Players Need To Grow Up And Face The Facts

“I know Youk plays as hard as anyone I’ve ever seen in my life and I have his back and his teammates have his back, We know how hard he plays. I don’t really understand what Bobby’s trying to do, but that’s not the way we go about our stuff around here. I’m sure he’ll figure that out soon.” -Dustin Pedroia

The Boston Red Sox are 4-10 and the team earned run average (ERA) is over seven. Since September their starters have been pedestrian and their bullpen can’t finish. Did I mention they are 11-30 during that stretch?

That how things are done in Boston now, Dustin? Continue reading “Major League Baseball Notes 4/23/2012: Boston Red Sox Players Need To Grow Up And Face The Facts”

Major League Baseball Notes 2012: Bobby Valentine Says Crazy Things, Don’t Be So Sensitive About It

First before I wax hypocritical let me clarify that title. Bobby Valentine isn’t professing his admiration for world dictators.

That’s off my chest, now I can say that more than once this season Bobby Valentine will be quoted as saying something stupid. Major League Baseball Notes 4/12/2012: Mauer and Morneau Show Twins Fans What They Hope To See All Season In Win Over Los Angeles Angels

It’s been a rough go for Minnesota the last year and a half.

The reason for their offensive can be attributed to the absence of their two highest paid All-Star caliber players. Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau put all that misery aside with their performances on Thursday. If only for one day, Twins fans could dream big in the Central again.  Continue reading “Major League Baseball Notes 4/12/2012: Mauer and Morneau Show Twins Fans What They Hope To See All Season In Win Over Los Angeles Angels”

MLB 2012: Opening Day Quick Notes (4/4/2012 to 4/5/2012)

  • Marlins Park looks phenomenal, Ali sighting dampened mood: Everything was set for a magical first night in baseball. Baseball in South Beach never looked so right as it did in the Miami Marlins new stadium on Wednesday night. The only hitch was the unfortunate vision of Muhammad Ali, clearly no longer able to hold back the devastating conditions of Parkinson’s disease, as he was carted onto the field. I think I can relate to everyone when I say that seeing the “Greatest” like that hurt. Continue reading “MLB 2012: Opening Day Quick Notes (4/4/2012 to 4/5/2012)”
