Can we all take a minute to appreciate the stars in the NFL?
I don’t normally like to fawn too much over the known commodities, and this might be the second time this season I’ve done this but was Sunday not a classic example of what your top guys can do for you?
Aaron Rodgers looked confused until the middle of the third quarter and then, he figured it out to the tune of four touchdowns and 300+ yards. It was vintage Rodgers, and fantasy owners saw it as a welcome sign for him (and Randall Cobb) heading into a nice part of their schedule.
Antonio Brown re-emerged and reminded us all what he’s capable of as he went off for 284 receiving yards on the day. It’s amazing the point total he was able to put up even without finding the end zone. Mike Evans dropped more passes in a game at a historic level, yet still put together 152-yard performance. Odell Beckham, Jr. Went for 105-yards. Adrian Peterson and Todd Gurley didn’t disappoint either.
I know, not everyone has the sure fire guy on their roster. In fact I’ve got no less than five or six threads of texts working out trades for one of the above mentioned. I just wanted to make sure I remember how fun it is to see star players do star things.
Waiver Targets
Jeremy Langford, RB, Chicago Bears
Well I’ve seen all I needed to see. Langford’s performance went beyond the 142 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. It was also the blitz pick ups, the 4.42 speed/burst, the hands in the passing game, and overall comfort being on the field. I picked him up about three weeks ago in my Dynasty league and I’m not looking back. If he’s available get him.
James Starks, RB, Green Bay Packers
I don’t know what to say here because I don’t know how to explain what Green Bay’s run game has become. Eddie Lacy, beyond the injury, looks spent. To think that James Starks has been the best back pretty much all season is something not many saw coming. I’m listing him here as a ‘By Need Only’ pickup.
Karlos Williams, RB, Buffalo Bills
I told you about Williams in the preseason so consider me surprised when Bye weeks and an injury made you forget how good he is. If he’s available he’s the best option on waivers. Period. Langford included. Only because of situation.
Devin Funchess, WR, Carolina Panthers
Finally. Finally they’ve figured out what to do with Funchess. I’m not saying he’s on his way to weekly WR1 realms, but I trust him more than Dorial Green-Beckham.
Charles Sims, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The slow burn of the phasing out of Doug Martin is beginning. It was a nice run, and I don’t believe Martin is done. But Lovie wants Sims to happen. He wants us to want Sims to happen. So, if you’re looking for a handcuff/borderline FLEX play I’d target Sims this week.
