Fantasy Football 2014: Fantasy Football Quarterback Tiers Done My Way

Jekyll and Hyde?: Games 1-8: Stafford's numbers were 2,617 yards, 16 TD's, 6 INT's and a 94.7 rating. Games 9-16: 2,033 yards, 13 TD's, 13 INT's and a 72.1 rating
Jekyll and Hyde?: Stafford’s first-half numbers (2,617 yards, 16 TD’s, 6 INT’s and a 94.7 rating) didn’t resemble anything he did in the second-half ( 2,033 yards, 13 TD’s, 13 INT’s and a 72.1 rating)

The quarterback position is the most important position in fantasy football.

Go ahead and disagree. I say that without a hint of reservation or sarcasm. It doesn’t make sense to place the hopes of a well drafted team in the hands of someone who isn’t going to consistently give you the production you need from, what should be, the steadiest spot on your roster. 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game Selection Snubs, Oddities, And Thoughts

17 home runs, 50 RBI's, .288 BA, and a .365 OBP in the first-half does not an All-Star make in 2013
17 home runs, 50 RBI’s, .288 BA, and a .365 OBP in the first-half does not an All-Star make in 2013

In 1999 the Atlanta Braves had a budding superstar in Chipper Jones. That season he hit 45 home runs with 110 RBI’s, and a .319 batting average on his way to the National League most valuable player award and a National League pennant. I think we can all agree that last season, the Los Angeles Angels Mike Trout put on quite a show. But disagree if you must, the Angels did nothing wrong giving Trout that second-year salary.  Continue reading “Major League Baseball 2013: Why The Los Angeles Angels Were Right With Mike Trout Salary Decision”

NFL Fantasy Football 2012: How Doug Martin Of The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Became THAT Guy

I had all the excitement in the world this weekend.

I took my engagement photos in Lexington, Virginia with my beautiful fiancée, my beloved University of Georgia Bulldogs kicked Ole Miss around to the tune of 37-10 (ONE step closer to back-to-back SEC East titles and causing another offseason of THIS from Steve Spurrier) and things were looking great for the Falcons improving to 8-0 Sunday night against the Cowboys.

I mean, things were PERFECT.

Then it happened. I got this funny feeling in my stomach around Thursday or Friday when I looked at the match-ups for fantasy football. I didn’t like how things were shaping up. Continue reading “NFL Fantasy Football 2012: How Doug Martin Of The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Became THAT Guy”

Mark Richt “College Gameday” Spot For ESPN

I have a list of coaches and players that I admire quite a bit for a number of different reasons. Mark Richt of the University of Georgia is definitely one of those coaches. I like this recent spot he did for the College Gameday crew for their upcoming visit to Columbia, South Carolina as they take on the number six Gamecocks.

NFL 2012: Referee Saga Continues Into Week 4

Touchception!

Let me preface this by shouting out Packer fans today. You had a victory snatched (pun intended) from you by a couple of people who, to this moment, still can’t agree on the call. At any rate, we march forward into week four of the NFL season as the saga that is “Replacement Referees: How Long Will It Last” continues.   Continue reading “NFL 2012: Referee Saga Continues Into Week 4”

Mark Cuban Takes Skip Bayless To Task on ESPN First Take

Good for Mark Cuban going on ESPN FirstTake and giving it to Skip Bayless. I’m not a Skip Bayless hater, I’m just one who loves it when people are held to the fire for their words. I can be right or wrong in what I write, but I will make sure I know what I’m talking about if I put it out there. Kudos, Mark.

Roger Clemens Trial Does Nothing To Change Public, Voter Opinion

(Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)

Let me be the first to say this about the Roger Clemens trial: I’m glad that’s over.

After numerous missteps, a mistrial, jury selections that never ended, and finally an acquittal I can honestly say I’m done with any and everything sports related in a federal courthouse that involves PED use.  Continue reading “Roger Clemens Trial Does Nothing To Change Public, Voter Opinion”
